Proposed Ride: Shoreline/Interurban North – down and back – update: 4/9/2011 – it’s on as far as I can tell.
Start: 8:35am, April 9 (Saturday), Shorecrest High School, 15353 25th Avenue Northeast, Shoreline, WA We may drive from here to a different starting point, so please be on time. There may be a lot of cars at the high school since there’s an orchestra practice and possibly other sports going on in the morning. Look for a red bike and a blue neck.
End: 10:40am
Route description: Fairly flat, though there are a couple of rollers at the beginning and end.
Pace: Leisurely – 10-15mph
Distance: between 10-15miles
Ride Leader: Steve
Features: The route starts at Shorecrest High School and eventually picks up what I call the Northern Interurban bike route. There are places to stop and grab a bite so you may want to bring a lock for your bike. You should feel comfortable riding on the road and keeping an eye out for cars and obeying traffic signs and signals. You need to know your hand signals, call out when passing pedestrians and other cyclists, and you need to wear a helmet. You can see a long version of the route at http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/30824054
Though I don’t plan to go as far south, this is a really neat route with many possiblities: Woodland Park Zoo, Fremont, connect to the Burke-Gilman, others.

Ride report 4/9/2011
We had four riders up in Shoreline. We were going to start from Shorecrest High School, but I decided to change the start point to N. 145th St. and Linden Ave. N. due to some hilly terrain leading to the start of the trail. This is one of the entry points to the Northern Interurban trail. We started off going south on Linden and followed the trail signs going past the Evergreen Park Cemetery and onto Freemont Ave. At 83rd, we turned west and got onto the rather busy Greenwood Ave. N. This has a nice bikelane and we rode that all the way past the Woodland Park Zoo. A little past that we turned around. We made a stop to get a cinnamon roll (thank you Alanna!) and made our way back the way we came. The weather was a little cold, but the ride was hopefully long enough for people to get used to riding. The distance was 11.5 miles total according to Map My Ride.com A pleasant Saturday morning ride.
