Yes, that’s tonight at 6pm.
I’d like to invite you all to a casual ride around MI tonight at 6pm, at the Park and Ride on MI. Pastor Nancy is making her Lycra Debut on the back of my tandem! Mik and Karen, and Kary and Gail, and Mike and Jenn will all be on the two seaters, too. Hopefully the Pangs will join! Does anyone have a tandem that Dan Ko and Heather can borrow?
Dan Ko and Heather will join, and Dan Ko texted me to tell me that he hasn’t been riding much, but he will try to keep his speed down below the 25 mph speed limit on MI. And that he’ll wait for me at the top of any hills we run into. I thought they were going to be on a tandem, so I indicated that I’d have to tell Heather to keep the speed down, since I assumed she’d be on the front of the tandem. Then he texted this, and I quote, “I know if she talks trash 2 u, u will stay in front even if it kills nancy..haha!” That was funny, Dan, I actually did lol, not the lame lol that everyone texts/types in emails where there is no actual lol. Even my wife Cathy chuckled at that one. Not a real lol, but a sleepy smile. She said she knows what Dan means.
William, please never grant Dan Ko publishing priviledges on this website!
By the way, to you captains who have new stokers, I’ve found that new riders like very slow cadences. With fast cadences the stokers bounce on the softride beam and can’t keep their feet on the pedals.
It won’t be fast, we’ll stop at that Park that I always like to stop at. We’ll have three support vehicles with chairs, water, and food.
See you tonight!

I heard that this was a great ride! Some tandem action and Mike and Jenn were out in their first tandem ride too. (Ed, how about if we just allow Dan to send comments to the email list…)

Jenn and I had a great time. I didn’t make it to the island on time, but was able to ride the tandem for the first time with Jenn. The ride went very well. We didn’t tip-over or hit any non-moving objects on the road…so we had a safe ride!!!
Thanks to tips given by various people, I started going over safety things with Jenn and focused on different subjects when riding. She listened attentively until I finished, and she said: “I’m scared”…OH BOY!!! Knowing that we were late, I felt it was a blessing in disguise as I would be focused on making it a comfortable ride for Jenn and I instead of catching any bogey’s that fly-by if we rode with others. I’ll be the first to admit, Jenn helped me load/unload the tandem onto the bike-rack on my car (Thanks to Ed for allowing me to use his bike-rack).
After unloading the bike, the ride begins. Both of us had regular pedals (i had toe-cage pedals), so it eliminated the complication of clicking into pedals and etc (PHEW!). With one-try, we started going…straight too!!! It was really quiet too, I would like to think that Jenn was just so comfortable, but I think it was the complete opposite…she was too frightened to say anything! During the course of the ride, she was very helpful in communicating when she wanted to slow down the speed or the cadence so that was very helpful. There were a selected few moments where I’d ignore her input because of an upcoming incline.
The ride was very enjoyable for both herself and I. Thank you very much for proposing this ride. I hope to ride again with everyone soon!
