Sept 25th, Prosser Hot Air Balloon & Wine Ride

Hi Riders

Are you folks ready for a more casual ride in Yakima’s wine country? Prosser host a Hot Air Balloon Festival on the weekend of September 24-26th. I would like to propose a ride that is perfect for two passenger bikes. Really this is just a fun ride for singles too, but I say two passenger bikes in a kidding way Just in case one of the riders has to be a designated driver. Everyone is welcome, even if you want to just drive support.

The propose ride will start at Prosser and head towards Yakima visiting wineries along the way. Turn around midway to Yakima, and head back to Prosser to catch the “Night Glow” by 5:00pm before they lift off. Then we can have dinner together. Afterwards folks can stay overnight or head back home.

I talked with Prosser Chamber of Commerce and they say that the terrain is pretty flat. Motorist should be aware of bicyclist. FYI – There is an organized two day 120 mile ride from Yakima to Prosser, camp out, and then back to Yakima during this same weekend (entry fee is $110 per rider). We probably will mimic a portion of their route.

P.S.  Changes

I found out that Lori and I have a wedding at noon on the 25th to attend. So change of plans, we will probably leave around 1:00PM to drive out to Prosser and hopefully catch the evening Hot Air Balloon launch at 5:00PM. The following day, Sunday after breakfast we plan on riding the country side. We hope to ride either to Zillah (31 miles one way) or to Sunnyside (14 miles one way). This will depends on what we find along the way.
